Law School Final Decision Made
It has been a journey. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. There has been a lot that I have been trying to process. Since my last post quite a bit has happened, so please bear with me through it all.
I went to University of Arizona at the end of February to interview for a fellowship. While there I was able to spend time with a friend who lives in Tucson and enjoyed my time with my fellow interviewees. I was seriously considering U of A to be top contender. While sitting in my Tucson hotel room I got a phone call from a professor I met at MSU Law. Oops, there goes my semi-confidence that U of A was the front runner.
When I got home from the trip I planned my spring break trip. I originally had plans to visit 3 different schools I had been accepted to, but I changed my plans and decided to take this trip more seriously. I wanted to go back to Michigan State University College of Law and spend some more time there. It is hard to conduct a good “vibe check” of a school when you are only there for Admitted Students Day.
On my last day of school before spring break I received two more decisions. I was Waitlisted at Washington University in St Louis School of Law and I finally heard back from Berkeley with a Rejection. It hurt me a little to get that rejection from Berkeley, but that just meant that it was time for me to make a serious decision.
I spend 4 days up in East Lansing over spring break exploring MSU. It was great being able to sit in on a class and get a feeling for the campus. Even took the opportunity to check out some apartments up there in case I decided on MSU Law. And I was strongly leaning in that direction now.
Got home from spring break and hit the grind of teaching again. On March 28 I paid my first seat deposit to Michigan State University College of Law. I was Waitlisted from Vanderbilt Law School in early April.
But today was the BIG day. I officially declined all of my other offers of admission. It was a little terrifying, but hopefully someone else can get my seats and scholarship offers now. This gal is going to be a Spartan!!! Go Green!!! Michigan State University College of Law is going to be my home for the next three years and where I earn my JD.
So HAPPY for you!!!! Congratulations 🎉
